Why Revenue for Impact exists

Grants and donations remain vital to the impact sector. But when too much depends on a small number of funders, short funding cycles or decisions outside an organisation’s control, long-term planning becomes difficult and valuable work becomes more vulnerable.

Revenue diversification is often presented as a list of ideas. The harder work is deciding which opportunities genuinely fit, testing them against evidence, understanding what they will require and turning a promising direction into something a team can implement.

Revenue for Impact was created to close that gap. We help organisations build stronger evidence, make clearer revenue decisions and put viable opportunities into practice, so more of their financial future is shaped by deliberate choices rather than short-term funding cycles alone.

From uncertainty to practical progress

RFI combines practical diagnostics, interactive tools, defined programmes and bounded senior support. Organisations can enter at the point that matches the decision or challenge in front of them, rather than being forced through a fixed sequence.

Our work can help a team:

Where a significant revenue, commercial or organisational challenge does not fit an established pathway, selective bespoke engagements may be scoped as defined projects with agreed outputs, a timetable and a clear completion point.

AI supports research, analysis, structured thinking, continuity and execution. It does not replace leadership. People remain accountable for the choices, trade-offs and commitments that shape their organisation’s future.

Understand the position→assess the evidence→choose the opportunity→plan the route→implement and learn

This is a flexible working method, not a compulsory product sequence. Organisations can enter at the point that matches their current need.

Founder
Serena Vento founded Revenue for Impact after repeatedly seeing the distance between high-level diversification advice and what mission-led teams could realistically put into practice.

She brings 25+ years of overall international experience, including 18+ years in the impact sector across not-for-profit, climate finance and innovation. Her work has spanned strategy, partnerships, revenue and delivery in organisations navigating complex stakeholder environments, operational constraints and pressure to create lasting impact.

Serena is also a hands-on AI-native founder and builder. Across Revenue for Impact, Business for Change and Klessi, she develops practical ways to use AI to strengthen human and organisational capability without giving up judgement, responsibility or direction.

Where an RFI programme or engagement includes senior human support, Serena remains the accountable consultant and client lead.

The principles behind our work

Mission before mechanism

Revenue should strengthen the organisation’s purpose and capacity to deliver it, not pull the organisation away from what it exists to do.

Evidence before commitment

An attractive idea is not yet an opportunity. We test potential routes against demand, organisational fit, capability, cost and risk before encouraging significant commitment.

Human judgement stays accountable

AI can structure information, compare options and support implementation. Leaders remain responsible for consequential decisions and the people affected by them.

Practical progress over theoretical output

Every pathway should move an organisation towards a clearer decision, a usable plan or a bounded next action. The aim is not to produce advice that sits on a shelf.

A connected portfolio, with a distinct role

Revenue for Impact is one of three connected ventures founded by Serena Vento.

Business for Change

Business for Change is the intellectual home for the wider Building What Matters vision: how AI can expand what people and organisations are able to understand, decide and build while human judgement and direction remain central.

Revenue for Impact

Revenue for Impact applies that commitment to revenue resilience for charities and social enterprises.

Klessi

Klessi helps small and growing businesses adopt AI usefully and put focused solutions into practice.

Each venture has a distinct audience and purpose. They share one underlying commitment: using AI to expand human and organisational capability while keeping judgement, responsibility and direction with people.
